Wedding Day-Jason's version
1) When was your wedding day?
Septebruary 3th (The day before Casino Royale came out)
2) What day of the week was it?
Yellow
4) How many in your wedding party?
Don't know, I was too busy getting down and boogying.
5) How many guest were invited to your wedding?
So many, I had to take off my shoes to count them.
6) How long did you wait to Tie The Knot after your proposal?
I wore sandals that day, so I guess a day or two.
8) Who did you hire as your photographer & videographer?
Hire? Hiring is for suckers. We asked our Aryan friend Tim to take pics. He said yes and didn't show, so his Dad filled in. (His pops is a pro, so it worked out well.)
9) Did you have a DJ or a band?
We had DJ Abraham Lincoln, BOOYAH!
10) Who walked you down the aisle?
My pimp cane was my only support.
11) What color were the bridesmaid dresses and guys vests?
The bridesmaids wore a dresses that transformed them all into banana runts. The guys wore "vests" made of their own body hair, cuz they were all so manly (Tim wasn't there).
12) Who was your Maid Of Honor/Best Man?
My maid of honor was KITT, the car from Knightrider. The best man was Shaft.
13) Did you have a Bridal Shower?
Yes it was like the raining men song, except with brides, so it wasn't gay.
14) What type of limo did you get?
I don't remember, but bigfoot was the driver, and we stopped and got funnel cake. Man that hairy bastard loves funnel cake.
15) Where did you go for your Bachelorette/Bachelor Party?
I went to Vegas with my three best friends that anyone could have. One of them slipped us Rufies (or rapies as we later called them). To make a long story short we did some crazy stuff, and forgot all of it. Oh yeah, Nate married a stripper. I may have mixed it up with a movie or song or something.
16) What type of wedding gown/tux did you two wear?
It showed off my tits, so that was awesome. The only tux worn that night was by the penguin we purchased on the black market. We made it wear a tux to be ironic.
17) How was the weather?
It was so awesome that birds heads exploded due to the sheer improbability of the weather being so badass.
18) Where did you go on your Honeymoon?

When we stopped of at the Taco stand outside of the dumpy Sears on state street. I had digestional problems afterwards, but it was way worth it.

The were like the flowers on Super Mario Bros. They spit out fire, but after they went into the pipe, you could go in and collect coins without getting hurt.

Jason's groomsmen were his brother Kersten (best man), friends Scott, Jesse and Nate. Tim was lame and couldn't make it (something to do with fashion school-sounds made up, right?) but he was there in spirit.

I wore a white short sleeved gown with a beaded top and skirt with an chiffon overlay. My mom made my veil and I wore shoes I found at the DI. Jason wore a tux with a white dinner jacket and black pants.

Since it was November, it was a little chilly, but it hadn't snowed yet that year. While we were still in the temple, it snowed for about 10 minutes, but cleared up by the time we went outside.

Las Vegas. My friend Jenny let us use her timeshare there, so it was cheap, easy to get to and pretty fun.
19) What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
I should probably say the temple ceremony, but it was actually when Jason first saw me in my wedding dress and told me how beautiful I looked and even cried a little bit. Yes, internet world, Jason actually cried

We had red, pink and white rose for all the bouquets, boutannaires and centerpieces. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on flowers that would die the next day, so we bought the flowers at Costco and my mom arranged them.

The Salt Lake City Temple. We had a ring ceremony afterwards at our luncheon in the Plaza hotel.

My wardhouse.

In a hotel in Draper, UT. It was free, I wasn't going to complain.

Graduation?
This is a picture of Jason at graduation, or is it? It is actually proof of Jason's Trip to the Death Star to meet The Emperor from Star Wars (The proof comes from the word proof on the picture). Jason was actually mad during the picture, but the Emperor used his mind trick to make Jason smile.

Freak out Friday + bonus survey
So after a long dearth of concert going, I get to go see The Killers on September 26! Right in time for my birthday. But my real birthday treat...I get to go with my sister-in-law, Laurie, who is a fellow Killers fan (of the band, not of murderers). Jason's birthday present this year? And they will call him Dr. Jason...
Why? Because starting this fall, Jason will be a PhD student in Economics at the University of Utah! He received his acceptance on Monday night, and even though he missed the deadline by a month, he was still able to get funding i.e. we don't have to pay for tuition! He will be working as a TA for lower division economics courses and will receive a small stipend. He applied for the program less than 2 weeks ago, so it was amazing to hear back so soon. Now we can know what to expect and how to prepare for it. The worst part will be that I won't see my husband very much while he is in school, but the rewards will definately be worth it when he is finished (a recession proof job!). Anyways, Jason has approximately 4.5 months before his life is sucked away by the fascinating world of market forces, derivatives and other fun economic stuff. So schedule him into your calendar now!

Another quiz! Why? Because my life is boring...
1. He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen? Discovery Channel (see aforementioned rant about Bear Grylls for more info) or a DVR'ed "Law and Order: SVU". There are certain shows he is not allowed to watch without me present, like "LOST", "The Office", "30 Rock" or Important Things with Demetri Martin (our new favorite show!)

Get to know Jason and Verity!
What are your middle names?
My middle name is Deanne. My maternal grandfather's name was Dean, and my father's middle name was Dean, so when I ended up being a girl, my parent's just feminized Dean to Deanne. Jason's middle name is Heinz. His parent's really love ketchup, and decided to honor the blessed condiment by giving their second-born son the middle name Heinz . Or maybe it is because that's his dad's name...
How long have you been together?
Dated for 5 years, married for two years and some months.
How long did you know each other before you started dating?
Hmm...that's complicated. We first met (thought neither of us remember it clearly) at Kersten and Laurie's wedding when we were 14. During our sophomore year of high school, we were re-introduced when we ended up in the same dance group for Monster Mash. I went with my friend Tim (who is now one of Jason's good friends) and Jason went with his sister-in-law Amy (totally platonic, don't get any weird ideas!) We really liked each other and got along really well, but nothing really happened after the dance. We ran into each other a few more times during high school (parties of mutual friends, Wendy's, church activities) but nothing really materialized. At the beginning of our senior year, Amy gave my number to Jason, and we went on our first official date (which I almost said no to, since I had a test I needed to study for. See what I nerd I was back in high school?) And after that, it was history.Who asked whom out?

We are both 25, me older by just a month. But if you go by maturity levels, well....
Whose siblings do you see the most?
Probably Jason's, since my sister is down in Cedar City and my half-brother lives in North Ogden
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
Well, see, our marriage is perfect and we have never had a disagreement...oh wait, I forgot that I don't live in magic Mormon land. Since we both work full-time and Jason is in school full-time, the hardest thing for us to deal with is managing our time. It seems like we have more obligations than we have time for, and it can be hard to prioritize what really needs to be done and what we are being coerced into. This causes a lot of arguments, which ends up wasting more time. See the cycle?!
Did you go to the same school?
We went to different high schools (Skyline for me, Olympus for Jason). I graduated from Westminster College in 2005, and Jason has attended (so far) Salt Lake Community College, BYU (online course), Weber State (another online course) and will graduate from Westminster. He wants to go to the U of U for the economics Ph.D program. Maybe after than, he can go to USU and complete his college tour of Northern Utah.
Are you from the same home town?
Technically. I grew up in Holladay, and Jason comes from East Millcreek. But now we live in the better of the two (and in case you were wondering, yes, I am a snob when it come to location)
Who is smarter?
I think we are both smarter in different ways. I tend to more logical and book smart, while Jason is more street-smart. Luckily, we were both blessed with common sense, which is better than both other smarts combined.
Who is the most sensitive?
Well, that's not a hard one to answer. I am definately more sensitive, though Jason has his moments (though he will never admit it...)
Where do you eat out most as a couple?
I know it is cliche, but we love the Cafe Rio. Costco is also a close second, since you can't beat 3 bucks for a dinner out (even if it is just hot dogs). When we go to "actual" resturants, we like the Bohemian Brewery, Citrus Grill, Aristo's, Sampan, Training Table and Stoneground.
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Budapest, Hungary last May. Can't wait to go back!
Who has the craziest exes?
I have never met any of Jason's exes, so I couldn't say...
Who has the worst temper?
Anyone who is reading this and knows Jason should know the answer to that...
Who does the cooking?
I do, though it is not by any means forced. I actually enjoy cooking, and Jason excels at grating cheese, so it works out.
Who is the neat-freak?
I am not a neat-freak, but I like things to be organized and to know where things are. Which is probably why I am always being asked by a certain someone "Do you know where I put...?"
Who is more stubborn?
I like to think I am only stubborn when necessary and when it is something really important and worth fighting over. Jason tends to think the opposite...but I can usually win him over.
Who hogs the bed?
Neither. We both sort of hug the side until we almost fall off.
Who wakes up earlier?
Jason, but that doesn't mean I get to sleep in...
Where was your first date?
Stoneground, which is across from the Salt Lake City Library. We went there for dinner with Jason's best friend Scott and his girlfriend (now wife) Emily. They had just recently broken up and had just gotten back together that night, which I thought was a little strange that they had invited us along. After dinner, we luckily did not go see the movie Serendipity as planned, but went on a haunted tour of Salt Lake instead. Go ghosts!
Who is more jealous?
Neither of us are particularily jealous, though I do despise the magnetic pull that Bear Grylls seems to hold over Jason. One minute, you are paying attention to your wife, the next, you can't tear yourself away from some British guy is telling you the best way to eat bear poop. I don't understand it. By the way, he really does eat bear poop-check out the Romania episode from the current season and see for yourself.
How long did it take to get serious?
Who eats more?
Both about equally, but there are two foods that Jason cannot resist: cereal and Goldfish crackers. If those are in the vicinity, watch out, because they will be gone!
Who does the laundry?
I do, but not because Jason has ever ruined my clothes or anything. I just prefer it, and especially prefer it over cleaning the bathroom or spending hours in the crawlspace, which are tasks that Jason takes over.
Who's better with the computer?
That would be Jason. I am computer literate enough, but anything that involves "hard drives" or "RAM" is too much for me.
Who drives when you are together?
I love to drive, and usually try to when we need to go anywhere together. I tend to be calmer behind the wheel, and less suceptible to road rage. Unless it is a minivan. I hate minivans.

Jason's brush with fame...and he didn't even know it!
Last Friday, when Jason was working at MacDocs, a customer came in who wanted a specific Apple product he had seen online. The product he was looking at was last year's model, and MacDocs only carried the new one. Jason explained that the store carried the new model, but it would be more expensive. The customer said he would need to check with his "label" and see if they would ok the price difference. After getting off the phone, this guy asked for directions to the Apple store, and Jason showed them how to get there. After he left, one of the service technicians came out from the back of the store and asked if he thought it was cool to talk to this guy. Jason was confused and asked if he should know who this guy was, and the service tech told him it was Ruben Studdard, who is in town for a production of "Ain't Misbehavin'". Jason, who has never seen an episode of American Idol (and never will), was still confused until his co-workers explained that he had won and was a recording artist. When Jason came home and told me the story, he was shocked that I knew who he was (since I am also not an American Idol fan). However, since I do live in Utah, and the happenings on American Idol are considered legitimate news in this state, I did know who he was, and thought it was cool that Jason met him. For the record (according to Jason) and just in case you wanted to know, Ruben Studdard is pretty nice and like to purchase Mac products.

Valentine's Day
So, long ago when Jason was on his mission, I worked at the Roof restuarant in downtown Salt Lake. Since the resturant overlooks Temple Square, it is a Mormon mecca for weddings, marriage proposals and romatic evenings away from your six kids under the age of 8. One fateful year, I agreed to cover a shift for a co-worker, not realizing that I would be working on Valentine's Day. I tried to convince myself that it wouldn't be so bad, but over the course of the day, I was sworn at over the phone, told that a guy's wife would divorce him if I couldn't get him the resturant that night (sounds like a strong, healthly marriage), and made to cry by a guy who was upset that he and his wife couldn't get a reservation after going to the temple that night. Needless to say, this experience (for good reason, I think) makes me hate Valentine's Day, and with Jason's consent, we alway plan our festivities for a few days earlier or after.
This year, we went out on Wednesday evening. We decided to go to the Citrus Grill, which is my favorite resturant that I always forget about. Whenever we talk about places to eat at, we usually go somewhere else, and afterward I often think "why didn't we go to the Citrus Grill? I always forget about that place!" It is in the same strip mall as Cafe Rio (another common haunt for Jason and I) and is usually pretty crowded. The prices are really great (Jason's salad was only $5.50 and huge, my turkey melt with fries was $7.00) and the service is alway really good.
It was nice to have a night out, since I have been really busy at work, and Jason is even busier with work and school.
On Friday night, we had reservations to the Draper temple open house. I had never been to an open house before, and it was so well organized. It was interesting to be with such a diverse group. There were plenty of LDS members and their families, but also many others who were taking advantage of the opportunity to see our temple. I liked how everyone was treated equally, no matter how well dressed or well behaved they were. It was a good example of how members and non-members should treat one another. I was surprised how small this temple was. I have only been to a few (Salt Lake, Las Vegas, Logan and Jordan River). My favorite room was the oridence room painted with aspen trees. Standing there, it really felt like we were in the middle of the High Unitas in fall-one of my favorite places to be! After the temple tour, we went out to Cafe Rio (see, I said it was one of our favorites) and headed back home.
On Saturday (actual Valentine's Day), Jason was totally overwhelmed with school projects, so I had plenty of time to myself. I managed to organize and clean our spare bedroom (which is currently serving as Jason's workout room, and will one day house our unborn child), so we are now officially unpacked! Only took 4 months... When Jason was sick of homework, we decided to try and unclog our bathtub. What we thought would take a half hours ended up being three...the joys of homeownership. The previous owners had not taken very good care of this particular aspect of the house, and the drain was more clogged than we thought. Three hours and 60 bucks at Home Depot later, we finally managed to clear the clog by flushing it with a hose (my idea, by the way!). Very exciting, I know! After the drain debacle, I was too tired to make the special Valentine's dinner I was planning on, so we got $5 dollar pizza instead. While Jason toiled away on economics, I watched Love Actually (one of my favorite movies!), Sweet Home Alabama (one of the few chick flicks I can stomach) and an episode of the Tudors (I love Johnathan Rhys Meyers, even with the scruffy beard).

While Jason toiled away on economics, I watched Love Actually (one of my favorite movies!), Sweet Home Alabama (one of the few chick flicks I can stomach) and an episode of the Tudors (I love Johnathan Rhys Meyers, even with the scruffy beard).
Today, my grandma will be giving her homecoming talk from the mission she served in downtown Salt Lake, which means: 1. no teaching Sunday School 2. I will get to see my nieces, nephews and cousins (they are cute, and after I hang out with them for awhile, all my thoughts of having a baby go out the window! Best birth control ever!) Tomorrow, I have the day off from work (thanks, dead Presidents!) so I will probably run the errands I have been putting off for a while.

Freak-out Friday: Flight of the Conchords
So, I haven't posted anything on this blog for more than 2 months. Maybe it is because I am lazy, maybe because I haven't had anything exciting to post about, but luckily, the best thing in the world happened this week: I have tickets to see Flight of the Conchords (New Zealand's fourth most popular folk novelty band) live in concert! For a mere $90, Jason, myself and a few select members of our entourage will be basked in the precense of Bret, Jemaine and Dave for a couple of hours. I will definately be wearing my business socks...
